FAQ on GPS tracker
- Q: What's GPS?
A: The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a precise satellite-based navigation system providing three dimensional positioning, velocity and time information all on a twenty four hour basis. GPS can be used in all types of weather, any place in the world. It offers better performance than any other navigation system available now or in the foreseeable future.
- Q: What's AVL?
A: AVL stands for Automatic Vehicle Location which is a term used for naming the system able to track vehicles, vessels, and mobile assets such as trailers, containers, and equipment, plot their coordinates into one or more computer generated maps and be able to interact with them in several ways.
In AVL business, all vehicles in a fleet must have a unit, or GPS vehicle unit which can report its position to the Base Station over a cellular communications network (AMPS, TDMA, CDMA, GSM, etc).
With Base Station you can monitor a virtually unlimited number of vehicles, so you can raise your number of customers without any trouble using our turnkey solution.
- Q: What kind of map is used for software? Can we use our own map?
A: Default map is Google map, with software, you also can add your own map to use if the format of your map is MAPINFO or GST.
- Q: How can we know the APN of our SIM card in the device?
A: Insert the SIM card into your own mobile phone, and check the APN according to the document here.
- Q: What do LED indication lights mean??
A: The followings are related with LED lights of GT-110S when keeping the device power on:
1) At the beginning, red & blue LED lights will flash, then blue LED light will extinguish, the red LED light will flash fast & regularly, the main unit will detect its initialisation, search GPRS network, connect with internet GPS server via GPRS network. If the connection is ok, the red LED light will keep lighting;
2) If no connection of GSM antenna or no GSM signal, its initialisation will be abnormal, and the red LED light will keep flashing for about 20 minutes, flash slowly, every 3 seconds, 20 minutes later, red LED light will flash fast again;
3) The blue LED light is indication light for GPS signal, if connection of GPS antenna is good and there is no cover/shield over the antenna, after power on it will keep lighting about 30 seconds later;
4) The red LED light keeps lighting, it means the tracking device has connected to GPS server successfully; the blue light keeps lighting, it means GPS signal is valid and regular.
- Q: How can I know IMEI # of device since it has been installed in the vehicle?
A: Please send following SMS command to the device, and it will answer you with IMEI # as an SMS.
111111CMD:AT+GSN (Provided that the password is 111111.)
- Q: How to monitor voice in the vehicle?
A: If you have taken our GT-110S or GT-110W, then please run the client software on your computer: 1) select the vehicle number which you want to monitor from left list; 2) right click on the icon, and select 'Contol' from menu; 3) in the popup window, input the password near 'Stop' button, enter phone number which you want to use to monitor the vehicle; 4) press 'Listen'. Now the device will call your phone, just pick and answer the call, then you will monitor voice around the vehicle. (Note: the phone number can be your mobile number, or fixed home phone number.)
- Q: How to cut off engine to stop the vehicle through client software?
A: If you have taken our GT-110S or GT-110W, then please run the client software on your computer: 1) select the vehicle number which you want to operate from left list; 2) right click on the icon, and select 'Contol' from menu; 3) in the popup window, input the password near 'Stop' button; 4) press 'Stop'. Now the vehicle will stop gradually. (Note: You can change the password with software by yourself, but absolutely, you should remember the new password.)
- Q: Why the device can't be tracked in a sudden through client software and then no tracking records after that any more?
A: Please try to confirm the followings.
1) use your mobile or other phone to call the device. If you can not get it through, it means that SIM card in the device is out of service. It's mainly caused by A) tracker has no power supply; B) SIM card has a poor contact with tracker;
2) check if there is enough deposit with SIM card or not. If not enough, please make more deposits asap;
3) check if GSM antenna is loosened or not, it's better to reinstall GSM antenna;
4) send '111111CHK' to the tracker to see if it replies a valid message or not; if the reply message is valid, then do
5) send '111111WWW:!' to check its APN settings. If APN settings are correct, then do
6) send '111111LOG:!' to check its GPRS settings. If GPRS settings are correct, then do
7) send '111111CMD:AT+CPOWD=1' to restart the tracker within 10 minutes, and
8) send '111111GPS:7:0,' to the tracker
Note: The commands are not compatible with GT-110W or GT-110S. If you have used a new SIM card in the device, provider of which is differnt from that of the old SIM card, then you need to reset APN.
- Q: When an alarm is triggered, why we can not receive the alarm SMS?
A: Because you have not set the car owner with mobile number. In fact it's easy for you to confirm if you have set car owner or not: just press SOS button, if you can not receive an SMS from the device, then it indicates that you have not set the car owner.
- Q: At ARM status, when we open the door, but there is no alarm, why?
A: Possibly because: 1) you have not set the car owner; or 2) you have connected wrong cables, it should be connected with negative trigger.
- Q: At ARM status, when we crash the car, but there is no alarm, why?
A: Possibly because: 1) you have not set the car owner; or 2) the sensitivity of shake sensor is not high enough.
- Q: When the device is working, we cut off power supply of device, there is no alarm, and the backup batter does not work, why?
A: Because the switch of backup batter is at the position "OFF", you should push the switch "ON". If you have cut off power supply of device, at this situation, you can not stop the car by sending an stop SMS command, because Ampere of current of backup battery is too low to cut off the engine of the car.
- Q: Without client software, how can we set Geo-fence with tracking device?
A: Please do as the followings.
1) open geo-fence alarm
SMS command: 111111MOV:5:X,
(X=1, open; X=0, close)
(do not ignore the end character ",")
2) set geo-fence
SMS command: 111111RAL:XR:x,YR:x,X:str,Y:str,
(XR: latitude radius, unit for measurement is 10meters. For example, if "XR:15", it means latitude radius is 150meters
YR: longitude radius, unit for measurement is 10meters. For example, if "YR:15", it means longitude radius is 150meters
X: current latitude, the format should be "dd.dddd"
Y: current longitude, the format should be "ddd.dddd"
You can send command "111111CHK" to get current latitude and longitude, please note: only valid coordinates can be set for geo-fence, or it may lead to wrong alarm. If the coordinate is valid, it will come with a capital letter "A")
(do not ignore the end character ",")
- Q: We have installed GT-110ZS in the vehicle, the device worked very well, but when we pressed 'SOS' button, we couldn't see the alarm from client software. What should we do?
A: Please send the following command to the device: 111111LOG:1:1,4:1,8:1, (Note: do NOT ignore the last comma; the command is also suitable for GT-110ES)
This command is to open GPRS alarm, so that the user can see the alarm with client software.
- Q: We have installed GT-110ZS in the vehicle and connected wires correctly, why did the client softwarethe say that ACC signal is invalid?
A: Please send the following commands to the device: 111111GPS:7:1, 111111RUN:7:1, (Note: do NOT ignore the last comma; the command is also suitable for GT-110ES)
These two commands will set ACC signal, and the user will see ACC status from client software.
- Q: When we track GT-110ES by client software, how can we initiate the mileage number?
A: Please send the following SMS command to the device, and it will initiate the mileage value as Zero.
111111ACC:0,0, (Provided that the password is 111111; don't ignore the last character ",".)
- Q: How can we reset GT-110K to default status as that we got the device for first time?
A: 1) Press 'call B' button, at the same time press 'SOS' button quickly for 5 times, then you will see blue LED light is on; 2) If you have changed the password before, then send this command 'W888888,996,666' to the device, it will initialise the password as '000000';
3) When blue LED light is on, send this command 'W000000,990,099' to the device. You will see blue LED light is flashing, it will reset the device to dafault settings.
Now, you can set the device again as the document says step by step.
- Q: When we try to connect the APD with device and computer to set APN by AccessPort software, there are two black connectors and two white connectors, which connectors should we connect?
A: If your device is GT-110W, then please connect with the white connectors; if it's GT-110S, then coonect with two black ones. (Shown as the following image.)

- Q: There are two SOS buttons of GT-110S, how should we distinguish and use?
A: Yes, there are two SOS buttons with the same appearance, please check the following pictures.

1) SOS button tailed with colorful cables is for emergence help. Once it's pressed, it will trigger an alarm, and system will receive such an alarm so that it can be delt immediately;
2) SOS button tailed with mic & loudspeaker is for two way communication. In the client software, when the monitor inputs one phone number and starts to call, if the drive pressed this SOS button for one time, then it will pick up the call; if presses one more, it will cancel the call. At this time, system will automatically save this phone number as monitoring number. From now on, if the driver pressed this SOS button again, system will call the phone number automatically.
- Q: How does the system (GT-110W or GT-110S) report fuel consumption?
A: At first, fuel sensor receives analog signal of fuelmeter, then it will get a percentage of remained fuel in the tank. For example, if capacity of tank is 100L, the percentage is 53%, then there is 53L (=100*53%) fuel in the tank.

- Q: We have bought GT-110ES and devices work very well, but we have one question: if the car is robbed, and the 1st car owner is in the car, when SOS botton is pressed, the car owner will receive an SMS alarm, but in this case, it will make us more danger, because robber(s) will know that we have given an alarm, so how should we do?
A: You may do as below: (Provided that the password is 111111.)
1) Send the command 111111*10Phone1*20Phone2* to the device. (Phone1 means the 1st mobile number of car owner; Phone2 means the 2nd mobile number of another owner);
2) Send the command CEN666666*Phone3* to the device. (666666 is the default password of monitoring center; Phone3 is the phone number of monitoring center)
When any SOS alarm occurs, the 1st or the 2nd car owner will not receive SOS alarm any more, and only monitoring center can receive.
- Q: We have received an SOS alarm SMS from monitoring center:
CEN1100000000000000,#0197F6C4,#0197F6C5,#263B0F01,#263B0F02,#263B0F0B,&A,X+013109556,Y+103470650,00000,000
but what does it mean?
A: The 1st number "1" after string "CEN": it means the status is ARM (If "0", then means DISARM);
The 2nd number "1" after string "CEN": it means SOS help;
The 14-digit zero after string "CEN": it means that there is no other alarm except SOS alarm;
The five strings started with "#": they are base station codes;
"&A": it means the information is valid (if "&V", then means invalid information);
"X": it means latitude;
"013109556": it means 1°31'95.56";
"Y": it means longitude;
"103470650": it means 103°47'6.50";
"00000": it means speed;
"000": it means direction
